CranioSacral Therapy

Find release and relief from physical and chronic pain, while restoring your connection to the deep well of information and wisdom that is contained within each and every one of us.

What is Craniosacral therapy?

CranioSacral Therapy, or CST, is a gentle, hands-on form of body therapy that evaluates and enhances the craniosacral system and all other systems in the body as well.  This system consists of the fluids and membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, practitioners can release restrictions in the craniosacral system which can assist the function of the central nervous system.

What can Craniosacral therapy help with?

Oftentimes, CST can quickly eliminate acute or chronic painful conditions that other modalities have failed to affect.  In other cases, CST can be an effective adjunctive therapy to virtually any other modality that's currently being employed.  A few of the conditions that CranioSacral Therapy may be helpful with are:

  • Stress and tension

  • Migraine headache

  • Chronic pain

  • Temporo-mandibular joint syndrome (TMJ)

  • Fascial adhesions

  • Recovering from an injury

  • General health maintenance

  • Pre and post surgery

  • Post-Concussion Syndrome

  • Stroke recovery

  • Anxiety and depression

What happens in a session?

Our sessions range from 60-90 minutes and are held in a private and soothing space.
Before we begin we will get acquainted and discuss the reasons for your being at the session. We can work through your fears or anxieties related to what might come up during our discussion. During the session you will be fully clothed and lay on a massage table. With a light touch, I will evaluate the craniosacral space and gently encourage the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid into a more aligned place. Your experience may vary widely and from session to session. Clients may feel physical or emotional release that ranges from slight tingling and relaxation to deeper release that may include a “SomatoEmotional Release”, or the release of deeper, traumatic experiences that have been held in the body and are ready to be transformed. My main goal is to provide a safe, reassuring and secure space to assist you in the recovery of your “inner physician” (a term John Upledger came up with to describe the part of us that knows everything).

How does CranioSacral Therapy work?

The CST practitioner essentially helps the body release restrictions – which it has been unable to overcome on its own – that inhibit the body’s normal, self-correcting tendencies. Rather than deciding how these changes should be made, the therapist follows cues from the body on how to proceed. When the therapist follows this gentle approach, the method is extremely safe and effective.

“I have chronic neck and mid pack pain, chronic sinusitis, many neck injuries, and in more recent years, hip problems, as well as being overly sensitive. I have been fortunate to find Jeff in the Tucson area. His work allows me to continue hiking and being active, generally improving the quality of my life.”
